Pinnawala Baby Elephant Orphanage
Established in 1975 to house young elephants displaced from their natural habitat, the orphanage’s first priority has always been to help endangered animals and species in Sri Lanka. It turned to eco tourism to fund its environmental goals and nowadays trekking, photo safaris, bird-watching, canoeing, biking, and camping are among the activities available at the orphanage, as well as discovering more about the elephants of Sri Lanka.
